campfiring

so, we have had a great summer. It has been challenging at times (I've been trying to stay home and do less - and for someone like me that is REALLY hard to do. seriously. one of the hardest things you could ever ask me to do would be sit still and do nothing) But we did have a great time camping last weekend! Even though Chelsea claims it was pretty awful :), it was pretty luxurious camping! The kids even got to go on a train ride around the camp site! We did experience a thunder/lightening storm our first night and I was reminded of the pioneers - how did they do it? I tried to convince Chelsea that we should stick it out and spend the night (even though our tents were hopeless and our sleeping gear all wet) - if the pioneers could do it, we could do it! She retorted "the pioneers didn't have a choice!" We spent the night at her sister's house in Red Deer. It was so nice of her to take us all in!

The kids had so much fun at the beach - David loved playing in the mud... almost as much as walking in the water!

Doesn't he look like an old man!!

Corey was our resident photographer - isn't he amazing! Even though the Sheers won't be going camping any time soon, our children loved it and asked on the way home if we could please go "campfireing" again soon. Hopefully we'll make it a family tradition!

  1. Hey! You made it sound like we had an awful time. I thought you'd like my blog and all my positives! I really am glad you convinced me to go!
And those pictures are fantastic - love them all!

  2. sorry! I re-read my post and it does kind of make it sound pretty bad - we did have fun, I just felt guilty for making you go and then all these things went wrong...

  4. Chelsea was telling me how much fun she had with you, and how spoiled she was that you planned all the food! If you guys survived a lightning storm with your tents collasping and Corbin falling into hot coals, the next time should be a peice of cake! David looks like he is having the time of his life - too cute!

  5. What fun pictures & memories of "campfireing" your kids will have! Camping makes a lot of fun memories with crazy stories and all worth the work it takes to get there. Libby's monkey story was adorable.
