no pictures

ha ha i feel like such a failure as a mom - i sent my little girl off to school for her very first day of french immersion kindergarten ever and I didn't even take any pictures! She was very brave and not even shy at all -some of her classmates were grabbing on to their parents legs and crying but she was happily waving goodbye to me. After a lot of coaxing "what did you do at school?" "How was school?" etc., I finally got - tomorrow I get to play at the rice table. Thats it. ALthough she was telling David "non, non!" later today - pretty soon I won't be able to understand her at all!

Libby's Little Miracle

So, back a month or so ago, the piano bench fell on Libby's big toe. It turned black and blue and looked pretty awful. She's tough, she barely cried when it happened. However, the toe nail finally fell off a few days ago and that was worth the waterworks! (I think it was partly my fault because I did the whole "Ewww, gross!" when I saw it) Anyway, her toe looked awful and there was a tiny stub of a new nail way down at the bottom starting to grow but her toe had almost NO toe nail. So gross. So as Libby is saying her prayers that night, she prays that her toenail will be better by the morning. I better "back-story" this a bit: when we were camping Libby prayed that it wouldn't rain.... and it POURED! Since then she has been trying to convince me that Heavenly Father doesn't answer our prayers. (according to her, it even says so in the scriptures!) So, I'm all concerned that my poor daughter doesn't have a testimony of prayer, so I sit her down and tell her that Heavenly Father will fix her toenail and that it will grow back but she has to be patient and that Heavenly Father will have her toe back to normal by Halloween... or maybe Christmas. (seriously, I cut her toenails like once every few months!!) So. Imagine my surprise when she proudly shows me her beautiful new toenail two days later!!!! Seriously, I think I was a little too shocked; I know prayer works, but this was a minor miracle all for the sake of my daughter's testimony! I'm so happy Heavenly Father thought it was important enough to fix her toenail (and her belief in prayer). What a wonderful God we have!

campfiring

so, we have had a great summer. It has been challenging at times (I've been trying to stay home and do less - and for someone like me that is REALLY hard to do. seriously. one of the hardest things you could ever ask me to do would be sit still and do nothing) But we did have a great time camping last weekend! Even though Chelsea claims it was pretty awful :), it was pretty luxurious camping! The kids even got to go on a train ride around the camp site! We did experience a thunder/lightening storm our first night and I was reminded of the pioneers - how did they do it? I tried to convince Chelsea that we should stick it out and spend the night (even though our tents were hopeless and our sleeping gear all wet) - if the pioneers could do it, we could do it! She retorted "the pioneers didn't have a choice!" We spent the night at her sister's house in Red Deer. It was so nice of her to take us all in!

The kids had so much fun at the beach - David loved playing in the mud... almost as much as walking in the water!

Doesn't he look like an old man!!

Corey was our resident photographer - isn't he amazing! Even though the Sheers won't be going camping any time soon, our children loved it and asked on the way home if we could please go "campfireing" again soon. Hopefully we'll make it a family tradition!

Libby's Laughs

so one of the main reasons I'm blogging is to keep a record (like a scrapbook) for my kids that I can hopefully print off at some point. So this post is for Libby. She gave her first talk in primary yesterday and I was so proud of her. She helped write the talk (including picking out the picture prompts) and read most of it herself. (all of it at home before we left, of course!) She also made a story today - she set up her animals and told me what to write and she took the pictures with our "old" camera. (like corey will EVER let her touch the new one!!) SHe's growing up so fast and I love her craziness, her excitement for life and the way she processes things. SHe's quick to share and help.

She's always smiling and genuinely cares for others. She LOVES being center of attention and LOVES being zany and silly. She's got an infectious laugh that gets David and Cadie going, too. I love you, Libby!

The Monkey's Party
by Libby Wilson

Once upon a time there was a silly brown monkey.

She had 100 friends over for a party.

Then silly brown monkey and lizard-that –loves-to-swim went swimming.

When they came back all of the party friends were gone and that made monkey sad.

So then some dogs came back and they had a dog party instead. The monkey was super happy. The End.

week of fun

well, we had a full, fun week. again! The kids said some hilarious things (Libby: "Cadie, if you see something green, you should probably eat it. It just might be cucumber." Cadie: "Lets play house! Libby, you be the mommy, I be the baby and Mommy, you be the camel." and many more that I just can't remember. It's been nice having Corey home because he can laugh with me and finally gets what I mean when I say our kids are psycho! On Monday we had friends over and went to the library. On Wednesday we went to Kids day at the stampede and got to see Chelsea's family. On Thursday we went to the southland stampede breakfast and swimming. On Friday we had our annual Calaway park day with the Wilson family. Yesterday we went to our ward stampede party, and to top it all off, it was "wilson day" at church - Corey and I spoke in sacrament and then Libby had her first talk in primary - I was so proud of her, she did a great job. After such a fun week, it's no wonder Cadie fell asleep during dinner! :)

corey's new camera

so Geek decided about a month ago to get a new camera. These were his first pictures - with the kidlets at the park. Props to him because it is really hard to take pictures of our girls when they know they are supposed to "pose for the camera" - Libby and Cadie both have this scrunched up "CHHHEEEEEEESE" kind of face that looks hilarious and is in MOST of our pictures of them.

peas please

Well, the cute story of the day... We were at Libby's preschool graduation, which was in her defense, right after lunch... Cadie came with me (you can see the matching dresses I stayed up late sewing for them last night!) And Cadie has had this habit ever since she was a baby, of hiding food in her cheeks. Like a chipmunk. Anyway, at the graduation, atleast a half an hour after we had eaten, Cadie starts chattin it up with the parents sitting on either side of us. I thought she was adorable so I was a little confused when this one older lady who looked very prim and proper was grimacing a bit behind her hand. I look down and sure enough, Cadie has green, mashed up peas still in her mouth from lunch. Actually, starting to roll down her chin a bit... So I was already mildly embarrassed. And then the program starts and Libby's last. By then Cadie is frantic. So when she finally sees her sister walk out she stands up on her chair and YELLS "There's Libby! I see Libby! Thats Libby! Can I have a SNACK?" Of course everyone politely chuckles and I think it's at Cadie but no - I think they're actually laughing because poor Libby was the last child to come out and everyone else had this little circle they were supposed to stand on for pictures and stuff but they had mis-counted and poor Libby didn' have anywhere to stand so she kind of hung out on the front/side making faces at everyone until the teacher grabbed a cushion for her to stand on. I think she liked the attention...
