who needs clothes!

So we were lucky enough to go to calaway park today - the weather was awesome and the day was even better. The highlight of the trip for me was watching Libby (who hates getting splashed) go down the log ride... and love it! But even better than the fun family day was something that happened this morning. Corey usually gets up for the day around 5-5:30 depending on if he goes for a morning run. Even though the kids are often up at 6, the don't usually see Corey in the mornings. This morning Libby goes down and sees Corey and says "daddy! What are you doing here?" He explains that he doesn't have to go to work on weekends and she tells him that she wishes he never had to go to work at all. He replies with "I go to work to make money to buy you clothes and food and stuff." She responds with a classy "Daddy - (sigh) I will be naked and not even wear any clothes so you don't have to go to work anymore." (dead serious, too!) I love my kids!

little tattle-taler

Help! Please send me your advice on how to get your children to stop tattling! Libby alerted me for the 100th time today that Cadie was doing something wrong. THis time it happened to be coloring David. Here he is with black marker on his arms and face and clothes. Cadie, the culprit, smiles as she shows me the marker is also all over herself. How do I get Libby to stop running to me everytime Cadie breathes?

is summer here yet?

we've been having so much FUN lately!
We've had trips to the telus science center, the zoo, the mall, the park and everything it just feels like summer must be coming soon!

Libby rode a 2 wheeler bike (with training wheels) for the first time at the park. David mostly loved eating the rocks.

I'm working part time so I've been enjoying every minute with my kids and not taking a single second for granted. Even with Libby's bad language (someone taught her a swear which she repeated over and over and over again...) and Cadie's occasional screaming, we've had so much fun together.

"Cowa-FUN-ga!"

It all started innocently enough - we built a house out of couch cushions but then the big bad wolf came and blew it down. The pile of rubble was just right for jumping off the couch in. The kid in me let loose as I joined in the fun and yelled "cowabunga!" Libby informed me that "cowabunga" isn't a word and doesn't make any sense. She then adapted "CowaFUNga" because it has the word fun in it - which obviously makes much more sense. They preceded to jump, yelling "CowaFUNga" with each leap into the pile of cushions. I think the word will become a staple in our house.

EASTER ESCAPADES

We had a great Easter this year - the Easter bunny left chocolate bunnies for the girls - along with a ton of candy hidden around the house. They enjoyed visiting the grandparents, too - here's a picture of cadie in a hat - i swear that girl is going to be an actress if the hairdresser thing falls through. whenever she puts a hat on, she IS the person in the hat for the entire time she has it on her head. this was a serious hat. obviously. she refused to smile while wearing the thing!

confessions of a sleep deprived mom

well, thanks again, Chelsea, for guilting me into a new blog post (c'mon, Mexico was SO long ago...) so. apparently my night life is hilarious. I guess the other night - okay, in my defense I have gone back to work temporarily, so I'm getting slightly less sleep - well, probably not, but there's just one or two more things to think about every day and it makes me tired. Anyway, so a few nights ago, I remember dreaming that my birth-brother (who lives in edmonton and is 10) walked in on me when I was sleeping and saw me dressed inappropriately. I woke up a few hours later REALLY hot and found out I had my huge housecoat on over top of my pajamas - which were not even remotely inappropriate. I really don't see how me putting on my housecoat in the middle of the night was super funny, maybe it's the lack of sleep that made it sound kind of funny in the first place... My kids actually say and do much funnier things, I really wish I could remember them! I did take a picture of Libby's busted-up-eye because I even think that looks remotely funny late at night.

meh-hee-co 2009

well, i hope this post is appreciated as i'm staying up late to update instead of sleeping - which seriously is a HUGE sacrifice at this point in my life :) We had a great time in Mexico. These pictures don't even remotely portray how posh and beautiful our hotel and beach were. We also were treated to so many amazing adventures - like swimming with, kissing and feeding the dolphins. We got high speed rides from them, too! Corey, Pedro and I also got to go on a jungle canopy zip thing - Corey who's deathly afraid of heights, did amazingly well - you can see on the "practice zip line" (seriously shorter and slower than the rest) he looks pretty freaked out but he did it and loved it and by the end he wanted to go again. I was really proud of him. The girls just wanted to swim all day everyday. They couldn't get enough of the many pools, waves and waterslides at our resort. Other than losing Libby at the Phoenix airport, the trip ran fairly smoothly, too! Nonetheless, happy to be home.
